Inquest reveals multiple agency failures, including the Met Police and Probation Service, contributed to Zara Aleena's murder by released prisoner Jordan McSweeney.

Inquest finds multiple agency failures contributed to murder of Zara Aleena: Jordan McSweeney, who had been released from prison nine days earlier, killed 35-year-old law graduate Zara Aleena as she walked home from a night out in east London in June 2022. An inquest jury found failures "across multiple agencies," including the Met Police and Probation Service, that contributed to Aleena's death. McSweeney, who had been classified as a low-risk offender despite a history of violence, was not recalled to prison despite not attending his first probation meeting.
