17-year-old Foday Kevin Kamara from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, pleaded guilty to second-degree intentional murder for the 2022 killing of 23-year-old Zaria McKeever. The case was initially handled by Hennepin County prosecutors but was taken over by Attorney General Keith Ellison after public criticism of a perceived lenient plea deal. Kamara will testify at the upcoming trial of McKeever's ex-boyfriend Erick Haynes and two other defendants, with the state recommending a 10-year, 10-month sentence.
