Calgary officer David Wilhelm charged with assault for excessive force on a handcuffed man in 2019, investigated by ASIRT.

A Calgary police officer, Const. David Wilhelm, has been charged with assault after an incident two years ago where he allegedly used excessive force on a handcuffed man, resulting in hospitalization. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) investigated the case and found reasonable grounds to believe an offence had been committed. The officer has been released from custody and is set to appear in court on April 17.
