2 Edmonton Police officers face assault charges for an on-duty incident from Oct 14, 2023.
Two Edmonton Police Service officers, Const. David Castillo and Const. Ali Hamzeh, face assault charges for an on-duty incident from October 14, 2023. Following an external complaint received on October 17, an investigation was launched, leading to charges recommended by the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service on August 27. Castillo is charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm; Hamzeh faces a single charge of assault causing bodily harm. Both officers remain in non-patrol roles.
