A Breton RCMP officer is facing assault charges stemming from an arrest of a person suspected of stealing a truck during Drayton Valley's wildfire evacuation last year. Alberta Mountie Cpl. Bruce Lussier, 42, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm for his actions during the arrest on May 9, 2023. The suspect was taken to hospital for treatment of an injury sustained during the rollover incident.
