A memorial service was held for 24-year-old pilot Hiram deFries-Saronitman, who died in a plane crash on December 17 near Honolulu's airport. DeFries-Saronitman, a former Punahou School student and Kamaka Air pilot, was remembered for his academic and athletic achievements. The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the cause of the crash, which also claimed the life of fellow pilot Preston Kaluhiwa.
