China expands its largest salt cavern energy storage facility to boost green energy, reducing CO2 emissions.

China has begun expanding its world's largest salt cavern compressed air energy storage facility in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. The second phase will add two 350 MW units, increasing storage to 2.8 million kWh, enough to charge 100,000 electric vehicles and reduce CO2 emissions by 520,000 tons annually. This green power bank compresses air into underground salt caverns for later use, enhancing energy efficiency and security.
