China develops special steel for a 300MW compressed air energy storage power station in Shandong.

China's Shougang Group has developed a special steel plate for use in a new 300MW compressed air energy storage (CAES) power station in Shandong. This station stores excess electricity by compressing air and releases it to generate power during peak times. The new steel can handle temperatures down to -50°C and is 30% more durable than regular steel, supporting the use of this new energy storage technology.
