China's energy storage capacity increased 2.1 times to 35.3GW in Q1 2022, supporting its green energy transition. The northwest region led growth, accounting for 29.2% of total capacity. The National Energy Administration (NEA) released a list of 56 new-type energy storage pilot projects, including Li-ion and compressed air storage, and plans to promote innovation for a new-type energy system.
