Auckland-based fish trading company Sea World Limited and employee Marco Taukatelata were fined and jailed for handling thousands of dollars of illegally caught fish, bypassing the Quota Management System.

Auckland-based fish trading company, Sea World Limited (Seamart), was fined $360,000 and its employee, Marco Taukatelata, jailed for 3 years and 7 months for receiving and distributing thousands of dollars worth of illegally caught fish between December 2018 and November 2019. The company, a licensed fish receiver and dealer, supplied fish worth over $348,000 outside the Quota Management System. Former company director, Haihong Liu, received a 12-month home detention sentence for attempting to pervert the course of justice.
