65-year-old Montauk fisherman, Chris Winkler, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for leading a conspiracy to overfish fluke and black sea bass, exceeding legal limits. Winkler, owner of the 45-foot trawler "New Age," was found guilty by a Long Island jury on federal charges of overfishing, falsifying records, and selling his illegally caught fish at Gosman's Dock and the Fulton Fish Market. Winkler faced five charges, including criminal conspiracy, mail fraud, and obstruction of justice.
