Study links ultra-processed plant-based foods to increased heart disease and early death risk.
A new study links ultra-processed plant-based foods to an increased risk of heart disease and early death. These foods can include plant-derived snacks such as vegan burgers, sausages, cakes, pastries, and biscuits. Researchers found that every 10% increase in plant-based ultra-processed foods was associated with a 12% increase in heart disease deaths. On the other hand, a 10% increase in whole plant-based foods was linked to a 20% reduction in heart disease deaths.
