The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Nigeria has seized a second shipment of 175,000 bottles of codeine-based syrup, imported from India, this time at the Port Harcourt Ports complex in Onne, Rivers State. This follows a similar seizure of 175,000 bottles of codeine-based syrup in the same location. The latest consignment was intercepted during a joint examination by NDLEA, Customs Service, and other security agencies. The NDLEA has also intercepted drug consignments concealed in ladies' clothes and synthetic hair, destined for the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as making numerous arrests of drug traffickers and recovering large quantities of drugs across Nigeria.
