IATA identifies India as a key SAF producer to reduce air travel emissions, launching SAF Registry in Q1 2025 for accelerating adoption.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) sees India as a significant potential producer of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to reduce carbon emissions as air travel demand rises. IATA plans to launch the SAF Registry in Q1 2025 to accelerate uptake, which will account for and report emissions reductions. SAF is expected to account for up to 65% of carbon mitigation needed to achieve net-zero carbon emissions in air transportation by 2050.
