India's Civil Aviation Minister proposes 1% SAF blending for international flights by 2027, 2% by 2028, and extends UDAN scheme for another decade.

India's Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu has advocated for sustainable practices in aviation, focusing on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The Ministry plans to blend 1% SAF with jet fuel for international flights by 2027, increasing to 2% by 2028. Naidu highlighted the expansion of regional air connectivity through the UDAN scheme, which will be extended for another decade, and identified 106 airports for regional operations. India anticipates needing 350 to 400 airports in the next 20-25 years.
