Researchers say using sustainable aviation fuel on key routes could cut aviation emissions by up to 80%.

Researchers highlight that using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on high-volume, long-haul routes between key global locations, like Dubai and London, could significantly decarbonize the aviation sector. SAF could provide up to an 80% reduction in carbon emissions compared to conventional jet fuel. Dubai and London aim to use 11% SAF by 2030, while the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) seeks 5% SAF usage by 2030. Egypt plans to invest $530 million to produce 120,000 tons of SAF annually, aiming to cut emissions by 400,000 tons yearly. These efforts target the aviation industry's goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.
