The International Air Transport Association (IATA) sees India as a potential key producer of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) due to its ethanol supplies and availability of non-edible industrial oils. Indian airlines have already tested SAF blends. IATA projects global SAF production to reach 2.1 million tonnes by 2025, with India potentially producing 8-10 million tonnes by 2040, though this would require significant investment.
