67-year-old Fatou, the oldest known gorilla in any zoo and possibly the world, celebrated her birthday at Berlin Zoo. Born in 1957, Fatou arrived at the zoo in West Berlin in 1959 and now lives in her own enclosure, staying away from other gorillas. Fatou is believed to be older than any other gorilla in the wild, where their lifespan is shorter. She became the zoo's oldest resident after the death of Ingo, a 75-year-old flamingo.
