11-month-old premature western lowland gorilla Jameela, born at Fort Worth Zoo, has been transferred to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in Ohio to live with a gorilla family, including her 'foster mother' Fredrika. Jameela's mother experienced preeclampsia, leading to an emergency cesarean and her unsuitable motherly behavior. Staff at Fort Worth Zoo unsuccessfully sought other surrogate mothers.
