Dublin Zoo has said goodbye to its longest-standing resident, 62-year-old chimpanzee Betty, after the difficult decision was taken to euthanise her due to age-related conditions negatively impacting her health. Betty, a West African chimpanzee who arrived at the zoo in 1964, was the oldest living chimp in human care. She had been under the constant supervision of Dublin Zoo's veterinary and animal care teams to manage her health.
