Reckitt Benckiser CEO vows to fight $60m verdict over Enfamil formula's role in premature baby's death.
Reckitt Benckiser Group CEO Kris Licht has vowed to fight an Illinois court's verdict that found the company's Enfamil formula contributed to the death of a premature baby. The jury awarded the mother, Jasmine Watson, $60 million, stating that Mead Johnson Nutrition, Reckitt's unit, failed to warn her about the risk of necrotizing enterocolitis, a life-threatening disease. The CEO maintains the product is safe and essential, and the company intends to appeal the verdict.
