13-day-old baby dies from cronobacter sakazakii infection traced to Abbott Nutrition's formula, prompting parents to sue.

Kentucky parents are suing Abbott Nutrition, the infant formula manufacturer at the heart of the 2022 formula crisis, after their baby died from consuming bacteria-tainted formula. Willow Jade Dellaquila, a 13-day-old baby, died from cronobacter sakazakii infection traced to a can of Similac Total Comfort powdered formula. The parents, Cheyenne Ping and Christian Dellaquila, are seeking at least $450,000 per family and accuse Abbott Nutrition of negligence, fraud, and failing to warn parents of potential dangers of powdered formula. Abbott officials maintain there is no proven link between their products and any infections, including the cases outlined in the lawsuits.
