Manhattan jury finds NRA and Wayne LaPierre liable in civil corruption trial.

A Manhattan jury found the National Rifle Association (NRA) liable for financial mismanagement and its former CEO, Wayne LaPierre, liable for corruption after a seven-week long civil corruption trial in New York City. The jury ruled that the NRA failed to properly run its nonprofit and its assets between 2014 and 2022, and that LaPierre violated his duties, costing the NRA $5.4 million. LaPierre was ordered to repay the group $4.3 million in damages for mismanagement and misuse of charitable funds. The verdict concludes a trial in the civil lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who accused LaPierre of questionable financial practices during his tenure from 2014 to 2022.
