Coast Guard and rescue teams mobilized to aid a fishing vessel in distress off Mull.

A fishing vessel in distress south of the Isle of Mull prompted a mayday call at 8:15 am on December 13. In response, HM Coastguard, a search and rescue helicopter from Prestwick, and RNLI lifeboats from Oban and Islay were dispatched. CalMac's MV Loch Buie also assisted, responding to a request for help from nearby vessels. This led to the suspension of the Iona to Fionnphort ferry service until further notice.
