A Nanaimo breeder was convicted of animal cruelty after her dog was euthanized due to untreated seizures.

A French bulldog breeder in Nanaimo, Simona Pringle, was convicted of animal cruelty after refusing veterinary care for her dog, Java, who had been experiencing seizures. Pringle was fined $1,000, barred from owning more than three animals for a year, and must complete 40 hours of community service. The dog was euthanized after a BC SPCA investigation found Pringle violated the B.C. Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The BC SPCA emphasized the legal and ethical duty of pet owners to ensure their animals are not in distress.
