79-year-old hiker Ursula Bannister broke her leg, Airman Troy May and others rescued her, and May received an Air Force Achievement Medal.

Ursula Bannister, 79, broke her leg while hiking in Washington. Airman Troy May and others carried her down a steep trail for nearly three hours to reach medical help. They created a makeshift splint that minimized further injury. Bannister sustained multiple fractures and underwent surgery, but she appreciated the support from strangers during her ordeal. May was awarded an Air Force Achievement Medal for his heroic efforts in the rescue.
