A 16-year-old backpacker from Portland was rescued after sustaining a broken leg at Duffy Lake in Linn County, Oregon. His mother sought help from a nearby hiker, prompting a call to emergency services. Due to thunderstorms, the National Guard helicopter faced a delay, but search and rescue teams reached the teen and prepared him for extraction. He was successfully transported to St. Charles Hospital in Bend.
