Lidl reduces plant-based meat and dairy prices, matching or lowering animal-based counterparts, aiming for 60% plant-based protein sales by 2030.

Dutch supermarket chain Lidl reduces prices of its plant-based meat and dairy substitutes to match or be lower than animal-based counterparts, introducing partly plant-based minced meat (60% beef and 40% pea protein) in all Dutch stores. Lidl aims for 60% of protein sales to be plant-based by 2030. ProVeg International, a food awareness organization, praises this shift as a significant step towards food system change, as it increases the likelihood of consumers choosing plant-based options when prices are comparable.
