12-foot tall bronze statue of civil rights icon John Lewis replaces a 110-year-old Confederate monument in Decatur, Georgia. The statue, created by internationally acclaimed sculptor Basil Watson, was installed on the site of the former Confederate monument and will be officially unveiled on August 24. The Confederate monument, erected in 1908, was a flashpoint for protests over racial injustice following the death of George Floyd.
