13-foot Harriet Tubman statue unveiled near abolitionist John Brown's grave in Lake Placid.

A 13-foot-tall Harriet Tubman statue, depicting her stepping on shackles and holding the North Star, was unveiled in Lake Placid, near the grave of abolitionist John Brown. The statue, by sculptor Wesley Wofford, is placed symbolically next to Brown's grave as the two friends and freedom fighters are admired for their sacrifices. The Beacon of Hope statue will be at the John Brown Farm through October.
