Michigan groups pushing for a state-managed program offering employees up to 15 weeks of paid leave for medical emergencies, maternity/paternity or caring for sick loved ones. Bills introduced by Democrats in the House and Senate. The proposal is financed by employee and employer contributions, replacing a significant portion of lost earnings during leave. Modeled after 13 other states and deemed financially viable by an actuarial study.
