New York Governor Zeroes in on Employee Leave and Benefits, Wage Payment Violations.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul's proposed FY25 Executive Budget includes a number of provisions aimed at impacting New York employers and employees. Key proposals include an expansion of the New York State Paid Family Leave Law to include partially paid leave for prenatal appointments and the end of the COVID-19 Sick Leave Law on July 31, 2024. Additionally, maximum civil penalty amounts for OSHA violations have been increased, with penalties (among other things) now reaching $16,131 for serious violations and $161,323 for repeat or willful violations.
