The artwork was originally owned by Jewish art collector and cabaret performer Fritz Grünbaum, who was killed by the Nazis during the Holocaust. The drawing was held by the heirs of a Jewish couple who fled the Nazis and later unknowingly bought the work. This return marks the latest restitution case in the largest Holocaust art restitution case.
