Ontario Power Generation invests $1B to refurbish 8 hydroelectric stations in eastern Ontario, extending their life and adding 100 GWh of electricity annually.

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is investing $1B to refurbish eight hydroelectric stations in eastern Ontario, extending the stations' life to meet growing electricity needs. This project will upgrade 45 units at Arnprior, Barrett Chute, Mountain Chute, Stewartville, Chats Falls, Chenaux, Des Joachims, and Otto Holden stations, located on the Madawaska and Ottawa rivers. The refurbishment is expected to produce an additional 100 gigawatt-hours of electricity per year, equivalent to powering over 11,000 homes.
