Labour pledges to make parental leave a day one right for workers who start new jobs, extending beyond the current rule requiring 26 weeks of continuous employment. Deputy leader Angela Rayner has discussed the policy during a visit to West Lothian, where she also proposed a month of use-it-or-lose-it leave for fathers, paid at 90% of earnings. The plans to improve rights in a "new deal" for working people are reportedly fully costed.
