A new UK law allows over two million unpaid carers in England, Wales, and Scotland to take a week of unpaid leave per year to care for relatives with health issues, disabilities, or old age. The Carer's Leave Act, introduced by Liberal Democrat MP Wendy Chamberlain, aims to provide carers with more flexibility to balance work and care responsibilities. Polling suggests that only around one in ten unpaid carers surveyed feel they have a good understanding of the new legislation.
