2021 study links midlife stress to higher Alzheimer's risk: Stressful events in middle age may increase the risk of developing Alzheimer's, according to a study assessing 1,290 volunteers at Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal). Researchers found that accumulation of stressful events during midlife was associated with higher levels of beta-amyloid protein, a key marker of Alzheimer's disease.
