Researchers found that blocking a stress pathway in brain immune cells could reverse Alzheimer's symptoms.
Researchers at the CUNY Graduate Center have uncovered how cellular stress in the brain contributes to Alzheimer's disease progression. They found that microglia, the brain's immune cells, produce toxic lipids when a stress pathway is activated, damaging crucial brain cells. Blocking this pathway reversed Alzheimer's symptoms in tests, suggesting new drug targets to slow or reverse the disease.
