Researchers link midlife racial discrimination to increased Alzheimer's risk in Black Americans.
Researchers from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and the University of Georgia discovered a link between midlife racial discrimination and an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease in Black Americans. The study, published in Alzheimer's & Dementia: The Journal of the Alzheimer's Association, used data from 255 Black Americans over 17 years. The findings suggest that stress resulting from racial abuse could be a factor contributing to the higher risk of Alzheimer's among this demographic.
