57-year-old Singaporean man, Tan Hui Meng, was sentenced to 2.5 years in jail and fined $3,000 for aiding Chinese national Zhan Guotuan, an experienced businessman, in purchasing over $6 million worth of restricted residential properties in Singapore. Tan is appealing his conviction and sentence. The properties were intended for redevelopment into a condominium, similar to previous projects by Zhan's companies.
