Husband and son found guilty of manslaughter by neglect for failing to provide basic care to elderly relative. Dorothy Morgan, 71, was admitted to hospital in an emaciated, malnourished, and dehydrated state. Her husband, Robert Christopher Morgan, and her son, David Holyoak, were convicted after a four-week trial at Carlisle Crown Court. Medical evidence revealed Mrs. Morgan suffered from acute kidney failure, sepsis, and gangrenous toes. The court heard that she could not have survived medical treatment due to her severe condition.
