Two Maryland residents, Haotian Sun and Pengfei Xue, have been found guilty of a scheme to defraud Apple by submitting counterfeit iPhones for repair, aiming to receive genuine replacements. Between May 2017 and September 2019, they received shipments of fake iPhones from Hong Kong and submitted them to Apple retail stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers. The two were found guilty of mail fraud and conspiracy to commit mail fraud, facing up to 20 years in prison.
