Grey seal pups establish Suffolk's first breeding colony at Orford Ness, a former Cold War site, since 2021.

A colony of grey seals has established itself at Orford Ness, a former Cold War weapons testing site, on the Suffolk coast in the UK. Since 2021, more than 130 grey seal pups have been born at the remote shingle spit, likely due to a reduction in visitor access during the pandemic. The grey seals are thought to have spilled over from well-populated colonies in Norfolk and are now Suffolk's first breeding grey seal colony.
