China opened its fifth Antarctic research station in the Ross Sea region.

China has officially opened its Ross Sea scientific research station in Antarctica, named Qinling. This is the country's fifth research station in the region and is located near the Ross Sea, due south of Australia and New Zealand. The station is designed to house up to 80 people during the summer months and includes research facilities. Construction began in 2018 but faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
