Officials in South Africa's Eastern Cape have two months to replace unsafe pit toilets in schools, following pressure to improve student health and safety. The Eastern Cape also saw a record-breaking 87.3% matric pass rate, while Lufhereng Secondary School in Soweto achieved a 100% pass rate despite being a no-fee school housed in mobile classrooms. The Eden and Central Karoo district in the Western Cape topped the province with an 89.3% pass rate, highlighting improvements in educational performance across the country.
