South African students faced mixed outcomes in their 2024 matric exams. Roedean School achieved a perfect 100% pass rate, but 407 students were caught cheating. Minister Siviwe Gwarube honored 39 top achievers, including Malwandla Baloyi, who overcame physical disabilities, and Thobeka Langa, who is a social grant beneficiary. Both plan to attend prestigious universities. The Department of Social Development reported that 79% of the 882,336 registered learners are social grant beneficiaries.
