NIA investigates CPI (Maoist) splinter group for extortion and money laundering in Jharkhand, seizing evidence.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating extortion and money laundering by a splinter group of the banned CPI (Maoist) in Jharkhand's Chatra district. NIA officials searched three locations, seizing mobile phones, SIM cards, and other items linked to suspects. The case, initially registered by local police in 2016, was taken over by the NIA in 2018, with 21 individuals chargesheeted so far.
