India's NIA arrests key accused, Saleem Andrabi, in a narco-terror case linked to LeT and Hizbul Mujahideen; proceeds from drug rackets supported terrorist activities.
India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a key accused, Syed Saleem Jahangir Andrabi alias Saleem Andrabi, in a narco-terror nexus case linked to Pakistan-based terrorist outfits, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen. Andrabi, who had been evading arrest since June 2020, was part of a conspiracy to procure and sell narcotics, generating funds in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of India. Funds generated by the drug rackets were used to support terrorist activities in the region. The NIA took over the case investigation in June 2020 and has charge-sheeted a total of 15 accused so far.
