Consumer Reports found that one in three cinnamon products has lead levels above 1 part per million, with 12 brands exceeding New York's recall threshold. The FDA recommends limiting daily lead intake to 2.2 micrograms for children and 8.8 micrograms for women of reproductive age. Health risks are higher for children and pregnant women. Consumer Reports advises discarding contaminated cinnamon and lists safe alternatives on their website.
