Vietnam vet David Whitten receives long-overdue Purple Heart 50 years after wartime injuries.

David Whitten, a Vietnam veteran from Maine, received a long-overdue Purple Heart 50 years after being injured during the war. The ceremony at the VFW Post in Portland honored Whitten, who was shot in the leg and had his throat cut in 1967. Senator Angus King's office helped secure the award, marking Whitten's fourth Purple Heart and allowing him to join the Purple Heart Organization.
